MLB Division Series Predictions

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Oakland vs. Minnesota: The Twins were the hot team as the season ended, catching Detroit for the AL Central title. It's remarkable how the Athletics win with little hitting and seemingly less payroll, but Oakland has come up short in the postseason. Twins in 4.

Detroit vs. NY Yankees: Minnesota was able to win the Central in part due to the Tigers' fade. Detroit manager Jim Leyland has a task getting his young players ready for the playoffs. The Yankees appear to be ready to win their first World Series since 2000. Yankees in 3.

NATIONAL LEAGUE
St. Louis vs. San Diego: Unlike Detroit, the Cardinals did not blow their division lead. It seems no one paid attention to the Padres all season, but this is their second straight postseason appearance. Albert Pujols is the difference for St. Louis. Cardinals in 5.

LA Dodgers vs. NY Mets: Has New York done anything since July? The Mets have been on cruise control all season, waiting for the playoffs. Los Angeles is back after a disappointing 2005, and Greg Maddux has been a spark. The Mets' offense takes control. Mets in 5.
